| POGGIO AL TUFO
2004
Tuscany, Italy
A blendof 60% sangiovese and 40% cabernet sauvignon, this wine is all red berry fruit on the nose. Strawberry, plum and red cherries form the core flavors, with hints of leather, tobacco and coffee dancing around them. On the palate, the red fruit expands, but the wine remains medium bodied with the leather and tobacco blurring toward cocoa. This wine exhibits the balance and elegance of Tuscan red wines selling for 3 times the price.
This wine is from Tommasi's new plantings in Tuscany. Many of you are familiar with Tommasi's wines from the Veneto. I tasted this wine and fell in love with it. It is a perfect Raeder’s wine value. This is good enough to be my house wine so make your house wine at this great price.
We are buying extra to put in our own cellar because "everyday" Italian doesn't get any better than this!
Try it with steak, meat and/or big-flavored tomato dishes.
